Dhevaraj Hotel: Nan’s nicest digs can be found in this four-story hotel, where the air-con rooms are by far the best deal around. The restaurant and karaoke lounge on the ground floor will provide perhaps the only entertainment you’ll experience in Nan. Sumonthewarat Road; rooms start at 900 baht.
Nan Valley Resort: is located 17kms outside of the town in lovely natural surroundings. It’s a quiet place with basic but comfortable rooms. Rooms from 700 baht More details book or enquire.
Nan Fah Hotel: to experience the retro feel of an older Thai hotel, check out this clean all-wooden house and its decent restaurant on the ground floor. Rooms are spacious and come with TV, fridge and hot showers. Sumonthewarat Road; room from 400 to 500 baht. Tel: 05471 0284.
Fahthanin Hotel: despite having seven stories, this hotel misses out on the simplest details. Some rooms have excellent views, and all contain a TV, fridge and hot shower. Guesthouses in Nan
Nan Guesthouse: arguably the best choice in Nan is this ideally located, clean guesthouse in the heart of town. The service is predictably nonexistent, and you won’t cool off with air-conditioning, but they do rent out bicycles and offer tour information. Mahaphrom Road; 150 to 200 baht for fan rooms. SP Guesthouse: its location near the bus stop only adds to the convenience of this friendly, spotless guesthouse. As one of the newer places in Nan, it makes a great choice, and the TV will let you catch up on all the Thai soap dramas. Suriyapong Road; from 300 baht +. Tel: 05477 489.
Amazing Guest House: slightly outside the center of Nan is this quiet guesthouse with friendly, elderly owners who will adopt you as their own. The rooms are tidy and comfortable, but you’ll have to share the bathroom. Rat Amnuay Road; from 150 baht for fan rooms. Tel: 05471 0893.
Doi Phukha Guesthouse: next to Aranywat Temple is this large old house which has been converted into a hotel. It’s quiet, but the rooms are spartan and you must share the bathroom. Arayawarat Road; fan rooms from 100 baht. Tel: 05475 1517.
