PAYAO, 12 May 2018 (NNT) – Payao province will organize a lychee fair during 19 and 28 May 2018, said Payao Provincial Agricultural Office chief Prasert Suthitaenun.
He said the northern province will organize this year’s agriculture, food, and lychee fair at Cultural Plaza by Payao Lake.
The fair will promote the practice of safe farming for the sake of consumers and improve the competitiveness of local farmers in the global market.
The fair will feature a parade of lychee and other farm goods from nine districts of Payao, a lychee contest, exhibitions from government agencies, lychee processing workshops, and the sales of lychee and other products from local communities.
Payao province is home to 12,177 rai of lychee farms located in five districts. Payao is expected to supply some 7,000 tons of lychee throughout this year, with 70 percent of the harvest to hit the market during 21-31 May 2018. Lychee from Payao is selling for 20-53 baht per kilogram, depending on the fruit’s qualities.
