Invariably plugged as a luxury holiday destination, Koh Phi Phi has a great range of accommodation with the traditional backpacker joints of old slowly being replaced by high-end establishments. Nowadays the high season sees the limited selection of Phi Phi hotels becoming booked up extremely early, so those arriving without anywhere to stay might have to make do with less salubrious surroundings.
Out of season, however, you can find a comfortable guesthouse room for 500 baht and a decent hotel with pool for 1,000 baht, but over busy periods expect to pay double that. Surprisingly considering the post-tsunami hysteria, there are makeshift A-frame bungalows right on the beach for the backpacker crowd. But the island is generally expensive when in demand. Book well in advance if you want the priviledge of staying on the island.
