Schedule
Day 1: You’ll be picked up at the Sukhothai airport for the transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon we visit and explore one of Thailand’s most important ancient city runis, the World Heritage site of Sukhothai.
Day 2: Cycling to Si Satchanalai historic park, lunch and transportation back to Sukhothai. This is the ‘sister’ site to Sukhothai, consisting of equally ancient and important ruins, best explored on a bike. The journey there is mostly flat passing through rural Thai scenery.
Day 3: The journey now takes you North through rolling countryside as we approach the dramatic mountain landscape of Thailand’s north. This is a fairly easy leg with a small elevation change, arriving in the small town of Thoen.
Day 4: Cycling to the town of Hod travelling along a scenic route leading through Ob Luang National Park – Thailand’s mini ‘Grand Canyon’ (more of a gorge really). The mountains appear to our west as we follow the Ping River Valley Northwards.
Day 5: Discovering the Mae Ping valley by bike, and in the afternoon you’ll visit Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest point. It’s a tough four hour climb, so we take you up by van. Here we visit spectacular waterfalls and experience the lush varying eco-systems of this wonderful national park.
Day 5: In the morning the ride to Phang Nga Bay will start. In the afternoon you’ll visit Phang Nga Bay and the famous James Bond Island by boat. This is one of Thailand’s most incredible beauty spots, a seascape dotted with hundreds of karst islands and pillars – though bikes stay behind!
Day 6: After the one-hour transfer to Chiang Mai you’ll experience a boat trip on the Ping River, and have free time to explore this ancient city.
Day 7: Sightseeing in Chiang Mai, occupies the itinerary on the final day, as we visit the main sites in this charming town with its pretty moat, ruined bastions and numerous photgenic temples.
