Sept 27 - Oct 05: Phuket Vegetarian Festival
Where: Chinese Temples all over Phuket
When: all day
This festival celebrates the Chinese community's belief that a strict diet of vegetable helps to purify body and mind. However, these days the festival is more famous or the bizarre acts of self-mutilation of devotees pierce their tongues, cheeks and other bodyparts with sharp implements.

Sept 28 – Oct 2: Thailand Tennis Open
Where: Impact Arena, 99 Popular Road, Banmai Subdistrict.
When: 10:00 – 21:00
Bangkok's IMPACT Arena is the venue for the Thailand Open tennis tournament, part of the annual ATP Tour. More than 70 of the top male tennis stars from across the globe compete. The winner walks away with a cool US$644,500.

October 08: Amari Midnight Charity Run
Where: Amari Watergate Hotel
When: midnight
This charity run is the only race in Bangkok to be held at midnight, but still brings a party atmosphere to the city. Competitors are offered a choice between 6km or 12km along closed, dark city streets. Entry costs from 300 to 1,000 baht and benefits a range of charities.

October 12: Full Moon Party
Where: Haad Rin beach, Koh Pha Ngan
When: starts after dark
Thailand’s famous full moon party kicks off after dark on the beach of Haad Rin on the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan. Prepare to party hard as live music is hosted by a number of different beachside bars and DJs travel from all over the world to spin the latest tunes to party people.

October 19: Punchline Comedy Club
Where: Holiday Inn Resort, Patong, Phuket
When: 20:00 - 23:00
Three gifted funnymen from Ireland, New Zealand and England currently ply their trade on the UK Comedy Circuit but are taking some time out to come and give the good people of Phuket a good chuckle.

October 23: Chulalongkorn Day
Where: Bangkok's Royal Plaza and all over Thailand
When: all day
Chulalongkorn Day commemorates the death of Chulalongkorn (Rama V), one of Thailand's monarchs, otherwise known as the boy king depicted in The King and I. Residents cover the Equestrian statue at Bangkok's Royal Plaza with flower wreaths on this public holiday.

October 29: Pattaya Classical Guitar Festival
Where: Siam Bayshore Resort & Spa
When: 09:30 - 22:00
The festival is the only event of its kind in Thailand, showcasing many of the world’s top guitar makers and musicians and is surely the biggest and most vibrant event for classical guitar aficionados and music lovers on the Eastern Seaboard. The festival boasts an impressive list of guest artists, luthiers and students hailing from America, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Philippines and Thailand. Entry costs 500 baht for adults and 400 baht for students.

October 30: Chiang Mai Has Talent
Where: Playhouse Entertainment Complex
When: all day
It's time for the bands to compete against each other for a coveted place in December's final. All groups must have a mimimun of three members and must play original music - no covers! Take part or just turn up to enjoy the show!

October 30: Koh Yao Noi Charity Bike Ride
Where: Koh Yao Noi
When: 08:30-17:00
Phuket's Amazing Bike Tours will be organizing a charity bike ride in Koh Yao Noi. The aim of this day will be to raise money for the Koh Yao Children’s Community Center. The ride is a gentle 30km cycling trip around the island and includes lunch at a beachside restaurant. A minimum 2,000 baht sponsorship must be raised to join in.
